Welcome to the web home of the Professional Fire Fighters of West Virginia. The PFFWV is chartered and affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO, CLC.
The International Association of Fire Fighters chartered the PFFWV on December 20, 1930. The membership of the PFFWV is comprised of Local Unions of fire fighters in the state of West Virginia. The PFFWV serves 21 locals with more than 900 active and retired members.

In the Legislature
The PFFWV has worked with the House and Senate Pension Committees to successfully pass the DROP (deferred retirement option program) for all Municipal Police and Firefighters. This crucial legislation was passed and signed by the Governor on March 12, 2011 where it goes into effect ninety days from passage.

You must be a member in good standing of the IAFF and a member of the Professional Fire Fighters of West Virginia to qualify for Professional plates
The Mission of the PFFWV:
•To cultivate a closer feeling of friendship among the paid fire fighters of the State of West Virginia
•To work to establish better working conditions for the state's paid fire fighters
•To provide fire fighters time for social enjoyment and intellectual improvements
•To provide labor and support in the fight for substantial pension laws and civil service laws to protect the fire fighters in their positions
•To provide the right of collective bargaining for the betterment of state fire fighters as a whole
